He stated, “So much of what Meghan is and how she is, is so similar to my mum. She has the same compassion, she has the same empathy, she has the same confidence. She has this warmth about her.” He joked about his thoughts during that brutal five-minute waiting period, “You could be as late as you want, I ain’t moving. I want to see you again.” According to Meghan, as soon as she got there, Prince Harry handed her a chicken sandwich, they spent the week happily getting to know each other more deeply, and she was thankful to have heeded the advice of her friend to “save room in her travel plans for magic.” Prince Harry’s friend, Ignacio Figueras, recalled, “Right after they’d met, my wife, me and him had dinner together and he looked at us as said, ‘Guys, I’ve met a girl’… and you could tell right away that those were the eyes of someone that had fallen in love.” Prince Harry joked, “We could be completely dressed up and no one would know… it was our last chance to pull the pin on the ‘fun grenade’. Which we did.” When looking back on the first time she met H, Doria joked, “He was just like 6'1”, handsome man with red hair. He was just really nice… and they looked really happy together. Yeah, like he was ’the one’." The story sounds like a joke right out of The Princess Diaries and watching Prince Harry try not to laugh too hard at his wife recreating the moment was funny and cute in and of itself. On the bright side, members of the Royal Family like the Duchess of York said things like, “You did great!” after Meghan’s funny curtsy. He joked, “I popped a bottle of champagne while she was roasting a chicken, and that kind of gave the game away… It’s not that I knew she’d say yes, but she had already moved [her dog] over, so I had him as a hostage.” One thing that’s very special to share from the speech (but really, watch the whole clip when you get to it!!) is the last line:
